During the 1980's BML played a leading role as a supplier of satellite navigation and communications systems, providing installation, commissioning and training services to the Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard as their fleets were equipped with satellite navigation receivers and lnmarsat satellite communications terminals for the first time.

In 1984, the company expanded its capabilities beyond marine systems into the areas of satellite weather imagery and environmental monitoring.

Today, BML is a leading supplier of remote monitoring equipment used for the collection of hydro meteorological data via satellite, radio and telephone networks.

Bytown Marine Limited is also well known to the Ottawa and district amateur radio community through its retail store that has provided a local service since 1976 by offering a wide range of amateur radio products and accessories.

Technical support services are co-ordinated from Ottawa, Ontario where the company maintains a fully equipped electronic workshop and a comprehensive inventory of spare parts and components. The technical services provided by BML are not limited to workshop repair and overhaul. The company offers a full range of field engineering services including system installation, on-site repair and technical training courses.
